As a museum in Hoek van Holland, The Netherlands we own a Caterpillar D4 from 1936 which was used to tow the rescueboat into the sea. We rsetored the D4 but have a problem with starting the pony motor. We want to change the starting procedure to mount an electrical starter on it. Is theresomeone who can help us with finding an adress where we can buy a ponymotor with an electrical starter or where we can buy only the electrical starter made by Delco Remy.

Did you ever find a starter for the Cat D4?  You can check with ACMOC web

site.  It is the Caterpillar antique web site.  You may have to join first.

    Good luck.
