  • 1956 Jaeger 75-B air compressor. Small portable compressors like this have been used since the 1920s to power jackhammers and other air tools for road maintenance and other tasks.
  • Outfits like this produced concrete on smaller projects. The mixer is a 1956-57 Jaeger 6SW, capacity 6 sacks of cement. (Cement, along with sand, gravel and water, is an ingredient of concrete.)
  • c. 1930s-1940s Jaeger concrete mixer.
  • A steam-powered drill like this circa 1903 Jeffrey example was the machine that put the legendary John Henry out of business. Steam drills made drilling with hand bits and sledgehammers obsolete.
  • This Joy LW6A is a small version of the wagon drills that were used from the late 1930s into the 1950s for drilling blastholes into rock.
