As a salvage museum (for info see www.janlels.nl) in Hoek van Holland, The Netherlands we own a Caterpillar D4 from 1936 which was used to tow the rescueboat into the sea. We rsetored the D4 but have a problem with starting the pony motor. We want to change the starting procedure to mount an electrical starter on it. Is theresomeone who can help us with finding an adress where we can buy a ponymotor with an electrical starter or where we can buy only the electrical starter made by Delco Remy.

Go to the antique caterpillar owners club site and search for Old Magnet.  He is the authority on what you need for a starter.  I have bought pinions for my delco starters from Valley forge.
