    I have several times seen THEW written in all caps as if is an acronym.  This was on old power shovels.  What do the letters stand for?  Thanks.

    Thew was the last name of Richard Thew or Captain Richard Thew the founder of the company. Thew is written in all caps just as LORAIN, GROVE, or LINK-BELT is written in all caps, and is not an acronym.
