North West 78 Dragline.

    Several years ago I found my 78 half buried in the muskeg up at Rainbow Lake, Alberta.

    It has sunk to the table, the tracks were covered and the trees had grown up through it.

    We got her out and home to safe ground but I've had a hard time finding any information on the 78's. I was told it is a 1942. Any thoughts?

    I have the book The Story of Northwest Engineering Company and just looked the 78 up and the only mention of it was as a 2 yard machine didn't say shovel or dragline.  First manufactured in 1931.  The best I can figure is it became the 80D.  I know that's not much help.
